The launch event was graced by current Moto2 world champion Johann Zarco from France, and Englishman Samuel Lowes, who is third in the Moto2 championship this year. Organised by Shark and Furygan Malaysian distributor Winmaster, dealers, local racers and members of the media were also in attendance for a day of racing miniGP bikes. As part of the event, attendees raced Zarco around the Speedway PLUS go-kart circuit in a series of five-lap heats, with the top two finishers in each heat coming together for final race.

As expected, Zarco handily ran away with the win, while Lowes sat out the race on medical advice.
