I want to share what I learned at the back for prospective members, new members and old hands. by Jack Klauschie, RCBPREZ
motorbike shops pattaya thailand I hope all RC Beemers had festive holidays.
suzuki motorcycle parts spokane I want to thank Gordy for five years of dedicated service.
motorbike shop leyton I thank in advance those who have agreed to serve as Officers and Directors, particularly Mike who agreed to step in when I am out of town.

I have been reflecting on why I joined the club back in the late “90’s, why Lynell and I organized / cooked at a spring camping event and Manchester for many years, and why I have been participating in RCB events since. While riding remains a key motivator, I could ride without RCB membership or participating in RCB events. The primary motivator was and continues to be the friendships developed over these many years. by Gordy Olson, RCBPREZ This is my final President’s Corner after five years as Club President. Naturally, my first thought as I sit down to write this message is to remember Gary Stofer. My five years at the helm pale in comparison to his two separate four-year stints leading the Club. In those and all other years, Gary was a constant source of valued guidance, good humor, superb riding, and spirited accordion riffs. To say he will be missed would be the definition of understatement. His passing reminds all of us of the importance of savoring each day, each friend, and each ride – each and every day.

Well, it’s that time already… ELECTION DAYs are almost upon us. The campaigns have seemingly gone on forever, but the ends are near. Soon we will all know who will be our next Commander-in-Chief and who will be the titular leader of our club. Whoever they are, the two presidents (one of the USA and one of the RCB) will inherit both problems and possibilities from their predecessors. As I sit down to write my next-to-penultimate PrezCorner, I am thinking about all the good times that I have had in this club over the past ten years. There is something very special about a group of guys and gals that is so committed to motorcycling and to each other. It makes me consider rethinking my decision to step down as president after this year – NOT!!! Summer’s over, but that doesn’t mean that the fun is about to stop… the Fall Classic at Manchester Beach is coming up in a month and promises to be better than ever this year. The event is scheduled for Friday, September 30 through Sunday, October 2.

Our October monthly meeting and raffle will be held between Happy Hour and dinner on Saturday evening. The presidential campaign season is in full swing. The Republicans have nominated Donald Trump. The Democrats have nominated Hillary Clinton. Now the nation awaits what is perhaps the most important nomination of all – the one for the presidency of the River City Beemers! But seriously, folks… only five months remain in my Reign of Terror. I have to believe that the club membership must be getting tired of me by now and be looking forward to a fresh face ringing that damned cowbell every month. It is really time to start thinking about which of us will assume the handlebars of power on January 1, 2017. Boy, is it hot!! Summer is definitely here in all its 100-degree-plus glory. Fortunately, all of us have properly vented jackets and pants, summer gloves, cooling vests and/or sleeves, and Camelbacks, so we can continue to ride whatever the temperature. I suppose that in a real pinch, there is always the option of jumping into an air-conditioned cage.

There is no excuse for riding without the proper protective gear. As the saying goes: If you think it is simply too hot to put on all of your gear, then it is simply too hot to ride! Hard to believe, but 2016 is already almost half over. Are all of you about halfway through your New Year’s resolutions??? Hopefully, riding more was on the top of that list and the miles are accumulating appropriately. If not, get out there and ride. May is shaping up to be a very busy month! If past years are any indication, then a substantial number of RCB’ers will be participating in this year’s Lois Lewis Memorial Poker Run. The Poker Run is the Club’s only “bittersweet” event, where we have an opportunity both to miss Lois’s presence and to honor her legacy. As usual, there will be a terrific meal served at the Sweeney’s after the ride. As soon as you finish reading this, go mark your calendar for May 7, departing from A&S at 9:00 or so after our monthly meeting and raffle at Sonya’s (oops, I meant at Susie’s).
