Flashback time, check out this 1948 Indian Chief! Flat head/side valve, 74 ci/40hp, kick start, manual advance, girder front end, foot clutch, and a tank shifted 3 speed. This bike is one of only about 3000 made in 1948. This was the last year of the 74" engine and girder front end. There were no Chiefs produced in 1949 and by 1953 Indian was bankrupt and out of business. These are one of the most collectible years for the Indian Chief and very rare bikes.
